| Statement |
Since the Renaissance, painters have been interested in the illusion of space.
In modern times, artists such as Robert Rauschenberg have been interested in
actual space in painting. I am interested in exploring space on my own terms.
I have sought to flatten or eliminate traditional references to space (horizon
line, diagonal or receding lines, overlapping shapes, etc.). I am interested
in discovering a new way of creating space, real or illusionary, through the
resulting flatness.
